This post shows you how to create a volume group in linux on lvm.

Prerequisites:
1. We should have already created physical volume on disk using pvcreate. Refer this link to know how to create a physical volume (PV) on Linux

How to create LVM Volume group?

Once you have found your physical volume is created using the command "pvs". Use "vgcreate" command to create a volume group.
vgcreate datavg /dev/sda /dev/sdb
Where,
"datavg" is the new volume group name.
/dev/sda and /dev/sdb - Disk initilized under LVM using pvcreate command.

Above command will create a volume group called "datavg" on two disk /dev/sda and /dev/sdb.

Use "vgs" command to confirm the newly created volume group is available or not.
