How to Install Charmed Kubeflow

Charmed Kubeflow is an open-source machine learning platform that allows users to build, train, and deploy machine learning models. It is designed to run on top of Kubernetes, a powerful container orchestration system that simplifies the deployment and management of complex applications. In this article, we will go through the steps required to install Charmed Kubeflow on a Kubernetes cluster.

Prerequisites

Before we begin, make sure that you have the following prerequisites installed:

  • A Kubernetes cluster with at least one worker node running version 1.16 or later.
  • Juju, a deployment and orchestration tool for Kubernetes.
  • A Juju controller deployed on the Kubernetes cluster.

Step 1: Create a Juju Model

The first step is to create a Juju model to deploy Charmed Kubeflow. To create a new model, run the following command:

juju add-model kubeflow

This will create a new Juju model named "kubeflow".

Step 2: Deploy Charmed Kubeflow

To deploy Charmed Kubeflow on the Kubernetes cluster, run the following command:

juju deploy charmed-kubeflow

This will download the Charmed Kubeflow charm from the Juju charm store and deploy it on the Kubernetes cluster.

Step 3: Configure Charmed Kubeflow

After the deployment is complete, you need to configure Charmed Kubeflow by running the following command:

juju config charmed-kubeflow

This will open the configuration file for Charmed Kubeflow, where you can specify various parameters such as the number of replicas, storage options, and network settings.

Step 4: Expose Charmed Kubeflow

To access Charmed Kubeflow from outside the Kubernetes cluster, you need to expose it by running the following command:

juju expose charmed-kubeflow

This will create a load balancer service that maps the Kubernetes cluster IP address to a public IP address, allowing external access to Charmed Kubeflow.

Step 5: Verify the Installation

To verify that Charmed Kubeflow is installed correctly, open a web browser and navigate to the following URL:

http://<PUBLIC_IP_ADDRESS>

Replace <PUBLIC_IP_ADDRESS> with the actual public IP address of the load balancer service created in the previous step. You should see the Charmed Kubeflow dashboard, which displays various components and services that are part of the platform.

In this article, we have gone through the steps required to install Charmed Kubeflow on a Kubernetes cluster using Juju. Charmed Kubeflow is a powerful machine learning platform that allows users to build, train, and deploy machine learning models at scale. With its modular and extensible architecture, it is suitable for a wide range of use cases and scenarios.
